O LORD, rebuke me not in thine indignation, * neither chasten me in thy displeasure.
 
Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am weak; * O LORD, heal me, for my bones are vexed.
 
My soul also is sore troubled: * but, LORD, how long wilt thou punish me?
 
Turn thee, O LORD, and deliver my soul; * O save me, for thy mercy's sake.
 
For in death no man remembereth thee; * and who will give thee thanks in the pit?
 
I am weary of my groaning; * every night wash I my bed, and water my couch with my tears.
 
My beauty is gone for very trouble, * and worn away because of all mine enemies.
 
Away from me, all ye that work iniquity; * for the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping.
 
The LORD hath heard my petition; * the LORD will receive my prayer.
 
All mine enemies shall be confounded, and sore vexed; * they shall be turned back, and put to shame suddenly.

BE thou my Judge, O LORD, for I have walked innocently: * my trust hath been also in the LORD, therefore shall I not fall.
 
Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; * try out my reins and my heart.
 
For thy loving-kindness is ever before mine eyes; * and I will walk in thy truth.
 
I have not dwelt with vain persons; * neither will I have fellowship with the deceitful.
 
I have hated the congregation of the wicked; * and will not sit among the ungodly.
 
I will wash my hands in innocency, O LORD; * and so will I go to thine altar;
 
That I may show the voice of thanksgiving, * and tell of all thy wondrous works.
 
LORD, I have loved the habitation of thy house, * and the place where thine honour dwelleth.
 
O shut not up my soul with the sinners, * nor my life with the blood-thirsty;
 
In whose hands is wickedness, * and their right hand is full of gifts.
 
But as for me, I will walk innocently: * O deliver me, and be merciful unto me.
 
My foot standeth right: * I will praise the LORD in the congregations.

Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days. Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth. If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be. He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap. As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all. In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good. Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun: But if a man live many years, and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many. All that cometh is vanity. Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment. Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous, And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets. Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers. Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

GRANT, we beseech thee, merciful Lord, to thy faithful people pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all their sins, and serve thee with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
