WHOSO dwelleth under the defence of the Most High, * shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
 
I will say unto the LORD, Thou art my hope, and my stronghold; * my God, in him will I trust.
 
For he shall deliver thee from the snare of the hunter, * and from the noisome pestilence.
 
He shall defend thee under his wings, and thou shalt be safe under his feathers; * his faithfulness and truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
 
Thou shalt not be afraid for any terror by night, * nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
 
For the pestilence that walketh in darkness, * nor for the sickness that destroyeth in the noon-day.
 
A thousand shall fall beside thee, and ten thousand at thy right hand; * but it shall not come nigh thee.
 
Yea, with thine eyes shalt thou behold, * and see the reward of the ungodly.
 
For thou, LORD, art my hope; * thou hast set thine house of defence very high.
 
There shall no evil happen unto thee, * neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
 
For he shall give his angels charge over thee, * to keep thee in all thy ways.
 
They shall bear thee in their hands, * that thou hurt not thy foot against a stone.
 
Thou shalt go upon the lion and adder: * the young lion and the dragon shalt thou tread under thy feet.
 
Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him; * I will set him up, because he hath known my Name.
 
He shall call upon me, and I will hear him; * yea, I am with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and bring him to honour.
 
With long life will I satisfy him, * and show him my salvation.

Thus saith the Lord, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the Lord: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. Hear the word of the Lord, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the Lord be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed. A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the Lord that rendereth recompence to his enemies. Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child. Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the Lord: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God. Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her: That ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory. For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees. As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit. For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned. But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

ALMIGHTY God, who hast given us thy only-begotten Son to take our nature upon him, and as at this time to be born of a pure virgin; Grant that we being regenerate, and made thy children by adoption and grace, may daily be renewed by thy Holy Spirit; through the same our Lord Jesus Christ, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the same Spirit ever, one God, world without end. Amen.
