Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my

The Seventy-Second Psalm
Deus, judicium.
GIVE the King thy judgments, O God,
* and thy righteousness unto the King's son.
Then shall he judge thy people according unto right,
* and defend the poor.
The mountains also shall bring peace,
* and the little hills righteousness unto the people.
He shall keep the simple folk by their right,
* defend the children of the poor, and punish the
wrong doer.
They shall fear thee, as long as the sun and
moon endureth,
* from one generation to another.
He shall come down like the rain upon the mown grass,
* even as the drops that water the earth.
In his time shall the righteous flourish;
* yea, and abundance of peace, so long as the
moon endureth.
His dominion shall be also from the one sea to the other,
* and from the River unto the world's end.
They that dwell in the wilderness shall kneel before him;
* his enemies shall lick the dust.
The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall
give presents;
* the kings of Arabia and Saba shall bring gifts.

The First Lesson
Exodus 24:1-11, 16-18
And he said unto Moses, Come up unto the Lord, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of
the elders of Israel; and worship ye afar off. And Moses alone shall come near the Lord: but they shall not
come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him. And Moses came and told the people all the words of
the Lord, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words
which the Lord hath said will we do. And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord, and rose up early in the
morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.
And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace
offerings of oxen unto the Lord. And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basins; and half of the
blood he sprinkled on the altar. And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the
people: and they said, All that the Lord hath said will we do, and be obedient. And Moses took the blood,
and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant which the Lord hath made with
you concerning all these words. Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the
elders of Israel: And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a
sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness. And upon the nobles of the children of
Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink. And the glory of the Lord abode
upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the
midst of the cloud. And the sight of the glory of the Lord was like devouring fire on the top of the mount
in the eyes of the children of Israel. And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the
mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.

The Second Lesson
Hebrews 9:1-14
Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. For
there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread;
which is called the sanctuary. And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all;
Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was
the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; And over it
the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly. Now when
these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the
service of God. But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which
he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into
the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: Which was a
figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him
that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; Which stood only in meats and drinks, and
divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation. But Christ being
come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with
hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood
he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. For if the blood of bulls
and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to
God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Benedictus. St. Luke i. 68.
BLESSED be the Lord God of Israel; * for he hath visited and
redeemed his people;
And hath raised up a mighty salvation for us, * in the
house of his servant David;
As he spake by the mouth of his holy Prophets, * which
have been since the world began;
That we should be saved from our enemies, * and from
the hand of all that hate us.
To perform the mercy promised to our forefathers, * and
to remember his holy covenant;
To perform the oath which he sware to our forefather
Abraham, * that he would give us;
That we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies *
might serve him without fear;
In holiness and righteousness before him, * all the days
of our life.
And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: * for
thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;
To give knowledge of salvation unto his people * for the
remission of their sins,
Through the tender mercy of our God; * whereby the
day-spring from on high hath visited us;
To give light to them that sit in darkness, and in the
shadow of death, * and to guide our feet into the way of
peace.

The Apostles' Creed.
I BELIEVE in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy
Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary: Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was
crucified, dead, and buried: He descended into hell; The third day he
rose again from the dead: He ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the
right hand of God the Father Almighty: From thence he shall come to judge
the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost: The holy Catholic Church; The Communion of

from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for

The Collect for the Day
The Second Sunday After Easter
ALMIGHTY God, who hast given thine only Son to be
unto us both a sacrifice for sin, and also an ensample
of godly life; Give us grace that we may always most
thankfully receive that his inestimable benefit, and also
daily endeavour ourselves to follow the blessed steps of
his most holy life; through the same thy Son Jesus Christ
our Lord. Amen.
A Collect for Peace.
O GOD, who art the author of peace and lover of concord,
in knowledge of whom standeth our eternal life, whose service
is perfect freedom; Defend us thy humble servants in all assaults
of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in thy defence, may not
fear the power of any adversaries, through the might of Jesus Christ
our Lord. Amen.
A Collect for Grace.
O Lord, our heavenly Father, Almighty and everlasting God,
who hast safely brought us to the beginning of this day; Defend
us in the same with thy mighty power; and grant that this day
we fall into no sin, neither run into any kind of danger; but
that all our doings, being ordered by thy governance, may be
righteous in thy sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer for the Clergy and People.
Almighty and everlasting God, from whom cometh every good and perfect
gift; Send down upon our Bishops, and other Clergy, and upon the
Congregations committed to their charge, the healthful Spirit of thy
grace; and, that they may truly please thee, pour upon them the continual
dew of thy blessing. Grant this, O Lord, for the honour of our Advocate
and Mediator, Jesus Christ. Amen.
A Prayer for All Conditions of Men.
O God, the Creator and Preserver of all mankind, we humbly beseech thee
for all sorts and conditions of men; that thou wouldest be pleased to
make thy ways known unto them, thy saving health unto all nations. More
especially we pray for thy holy Church universal; that it may be so
guided and governed by thy good Spirit, that all who profess and call
themselves Christians may be led into the way of truth, and hold the
faith in unity of spirit, in the bond of peace, and in righteousness of
life. Finally, we commend to thy fatherly goodness all those who are any
ways afflicted, or distressed, in mind, body, or estate; [* especially
those for whom our prayers are desired;] that it may please thee to
comfort and relieve them, according to their several necessities; giving
them patience under their sufferings, and a happy issue out of all their
afflictions. And this we beg for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.
