HAVE mercy upon me, O God, after thy great goodness;

* and my sin is ever before me.
Against thee only have I sinned, and done this
evil in thy sight;

In te, Domine, speravi.
IN thee, O LORD, have I put my trust; let me never be put to confusion,
* but rid me and deliver me in thy righteousness; incline thine ear unto me, and save me.
Be thou my stronghold, whereunto I may alway resort:
* thou hast promised to help me, for thou art my house of defence, and my castle.
Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the ungodly,
* out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
For thou, O Lord GOD, art the thing that I long for:
* thou art my hope, even from my youth.
Through thee have I been holden up ever since I was born:

burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or
of he goats. When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?
Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the
calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting. Your new moons and
your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them. And when ye
spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear:
your hands are full of blood. Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before
mine eyes; cease to do evil; Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless,
plead for the widow. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet,

The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto
me; unto him ye shall hearken; According to all that thou desiredst of the Lord thy God in Horeb in the
day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the Lord my God, neither let me see this
great fire any more, that I die not. And the Lord said unto me, They have well spoken that which they
have spoken. I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my
words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to
pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of
him. But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded
him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. And if thou say in
thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in
the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not
spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

I Peter 4:12
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange
thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his
glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of
Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of,
but on your part he is glorified. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or
as a busybody in other men's matters. Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let
him glorify God on this behalf. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if
it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous
scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer
according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful
Creator.

Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to
husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time. And at the season he sent a servant to the
husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and
sent him away empty. And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him
shamefully, and sent him away empty. And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast
him out. Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they
will reverence him when they see him. But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among
themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours. So they cast
him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them? He
shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it,
they said, God forbid. And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which
the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner? Whosoever shall fall upon that stone
shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

BLESSED be the Lord God of Israel; * for he hath visited and
redeemed his people;
And hath raised up a mighty salvation for us, * in the

WE beseech thee, Almighty God, mercifully to look upon thy people;
that by thy great goodness they may be governed and preserved evermore,
both in body and soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Ash Wednesday
ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, who hatest nothing that thou hast
made, and dost forgive the sins of all those who are penitent;
Create and make in us new and contrite hearts, that we, worthily
lamenting our sins and acknowledging our wretchedness, may obtain
of thee, the God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O GOD, who art the author of peace and lover of concord,
in knowledge of whom standeth our eternal life, whose service
is perfect freedom; Defend us thy humble servants in all assaults
of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in thy defence, may not

O God, the Creator and Preserver of all mankind, we humbly beseech thee
for all sorts and conditions of men; that thou wouldest be pleased to
make thy ways known unto them, thy saving health unto all nations. More
especially we pray for thy holy Church universal; that it may be so
guided and governed by thy good Spirit, that all who profess and call
themselves Christians may be led into the way of truth, and hold the
faith in unity of spirit, in the bond of peace, and in righteousness of
life. Finally, we commend to thy fatherly goodness all those who are any
