Dear CommonPrayer.org users,
I am most grateful to a priest in British Columbia for advising me that offensive advertising was suddenly appearing in the middle of the "Morning Prayer" webpage. It took a great deal of investigating to confirm this (again, Fr. K, my deepest apologies!) but it was true - the CommonPrayer.org website had been hacked, and in a most vicious way. Advertising was inserted into the most important web pages, so that the "hacker" would earn money from people using CommonPrayer.org. The contents of the ads varied, but some of it was what can only be described as being blasphemous/pornographic in nature.
Far worse, in my opinion, was a less obvious hack to the CommonPrayer home page. A button to "DONATE" suddenly appeared. Needless to say, none of the donations went to CommonPrayer.org. I've received no assistance from various Internet "authorities" in trying to track down where the money actually went; apparently, law enforcement has many more pressing issues to deal with.
So - the purpose of this page is to let CommonPrayer.org users know, with clarity and directness:
1) COMMONPRAYER.ORG NEVER SOLICITS DONATIONS.
2) COMMONPRAYER.ORG NEVER POSTS ADVERTISEMENTS.
