Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my

shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the
Father seeketh such to worship him. St. John iv. 23.

The Sixty-Third Psalm
Deus, Deus Meus.
O GOD, thou art my God; * early will I seek thee.
My soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh also longeth after thee, * in a barren and dry land where no water
is.
Thus have I looked for thee in the sanctuary, * that I might behold thy power and glory.
For thy loving-kindness is better than the life itself: * my lips shall praise thee.
As long as I live will I magnify thee in this manner, * and lift up my hands in thy Name.
My soul shall be satisfied, even as it were with marrow and fatness, * when my mouth praiseth thee with
joyful lips.
Have I not remembered thee in my bed, * and thought upon thee when I was waking?
Because thou hast been my helper; * therefore under the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
My soul hangeth upon thee; * thy right hand hath upholden me.
These also that seek the hurt of my soul, * they shall go under the earth.
Let them fall upon the edge of the sword, * that they may be a portion for foxes.

The First Lesson
Exodus 18:13
And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Moses
from the morning unto the evening. And when Moses' father in law saw all that he did to the people, he
said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people
stand by thee from morning unto even? And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come
unto me to inquire of God: When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and
another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws. And Moses' father in law said unto
him, The thing that thou doest is not good. Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is
with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone. Hearken now
unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to Godward,
that thou mayest bring the causes unto God: And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt
shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do. Moreover thou shalt provide
out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over
them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens: And let them
judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every
small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee. If
thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people
shall also go to their place in peace. So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that
he had said. And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of
thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. And they judged the people at all
seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves. And
Moses let his father in law depart; and he went his way into his own land.

The Second Lesson
Hebrews 7:1-11
For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from
the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being
by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but
made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. Now consider how great this man was, unto
whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils. And verily they that are of the sons of
Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according
to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham: But he whose descent
is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises. And
without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better. And here men that die receive tithes; but there
he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth. And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth
tithes, payed tithes in Abraham. For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him. If
therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what
further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called
after the order of Aaron?

BLESSED be the Lord God of Israel; * for he hath visited and
redeemed his people;
And hath raised up a mighty salvation for us, * in the
house of his servant David;
As he spake by the mouth of his holy Prophets, * which
have been since the world began;
That we should be saved from our enemies, * and from
the hand of all that hate us.
To perform the mercy promised to our forefathers, * and
to remember his holy covenant;
To perform the oath which he sware to our forefather
Abraham, * that he would give us;
That we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies *

The Apostles' Creed.
I BELIEVE in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy
Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary: Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was
crucified, dead, and buried: He descended into hell; The third day he
rose again from the dead: He ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the
right hand of God the Father Almighty: From thence he shall come to judge
the quick and the dead.

OUR Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come.

from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for

The Collect for the Day
The Second Sunday After Easter
ALMIGHTY God, who hast given thine only Son to be
unto us both a sacrifice for sin, and also an ensample
of godly life; Give us grace that we may always most
thankfully receive that his inestimable benefit, and also
daily endeavour ourselves to follow the blessed steps of
his most holy life; through the same thy Son Jesus Christ
our Lord. Amen.
A Collect for Peace.
O GOD, who art the author of peace and lover of concord,
in knowledge of whom standeth our eternal life, whose service
is perfect freedom; Defend us thy humble servants in all assaults
of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in thy defence, may not
fear the power of any adversaries, through the might of Jesus Christ
our Lord. Amen.
A Collect for Grace.
O Lord, our heavenly Father, Almighty and everlasting God,
who hast safely brought us to the beginning of this day; Defend
us in the same with thy mighty power; and grant that this day
we fall into no sin, neither run into any kind of danger; but
that all our doings, being ordered by thy governance, may be
righteous in thy sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer for the Clergy and People.
Almighty and everlasting God, from whom cometh every good and perfect
gift; Send down upon our Bishops, and other Clergy, and upon the
Congregations committed to their charge, the healthful Spirit of thy
grace; and, that they may truly please thee, pour upon them the continual
dew of thy blessing. Grant this, O Lord, for the honour of our Advocate
and Mediator, Jesus Christ. Amen.
A Prayer for All Conditions of Men.
O God, the Creator and Preserver of all mankind, we humbly beseech thee
for all sorts and conditions of men; that thou wouldest be pleased to
make thy ways known unto them, thy saving health unto all nations. More
especially we pray for thy holy Church universal; that it may be so
guided and governed by thy good Spirit, that all who profess and call
themselves Christians may be led into the way of truth, and hold the
faith in unity of spirit, in the bond of peace, and in righteousness of
life. Finally, we commend to thy fatherly goodness all those who are any
ways afflicted, or distressed, in mind, body, or estate; [* especially
those for whom our prayers are desired;] that it may please thee to
comfort and relieve them, according to their several necessities; giving
them patience under their sufferings, and a happy issue out of all their
afflictions. And this we beg for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.
